                     A Phenomenon on the Indian film firmament, Dr. Bhanumathi Ramakrishna is the only personality in the world of cinema who combines in herself a writer, singer, artiste, painter, music director. director, producer and studio owner.

                   Born on September 7, 1925 in Doddavaram Village in Andhra Pradesh into a family of musicians and litterateurs, Bhanumathi was trained in classical music at a very early age by her father Bommaraju Venkata Subbiah. At 13, she made her debut in the film “Varavikrayam'. She has since acted in more than 100 movies in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada.

                 Dr. Bhanumathi Ramakrishna won the Andhra Pradesh Sahitya Academy award for her collection of stories, Athagar Kathalu'. Her autobiographical musings in Telugu Nalo Nenu won the national award for the best autobiographical book on cinema.

              She was conferred with honorary doctorates by Andhra and Sri Venkateswara Universities. She is also the recipient of the Padmashree, Kalaimamani and Raghupathi Venkiah awards. She was the chairperson of the jury at the International Childrens Film Festival held at Hyderabad in November 1999.
