There had not been any National Flag for Indian peninsula until it came under the British rule since the whole country had been divided into several smaller kingdoms ruled by various royal families each having a flag of its own. The flag of Garuda, a bird creature with a mix of eagle and human features, of the Mouryas and the flag of Alam of the Mughals were more prominent among all the Royal Flags in Medieval India. There were nearly 565 small kingdoms in India when the British stepped onto the Indian soil. Each one of these had a Flag of its own with a special Symbol or carried the Insignia of the Royal family. Sometimes the major part of India came under the rule of powerful, great rulers or emperors with one royal flag but at other times it was divided into several smaller kingdoms withvarious royal...............
