             During the last many decades the process and quality of manintenance has taken turns, through courts and sociologically, and evolved to offer the better standards needed for the dependents. Since it is an ever evolving process and new ideas are thrown in from time to time, there is an every possible need to revisit the concept and legal issues concerning the ways and means of offering the maintenance. 
             This book attempts to study the rights of destitute/helpless person, who is parent, spouse, or chid, to get maintenance from the person, who is under moral/legal obligation, under various situations, starting from birth till death. The recommendations made by judiciary and law commission of India, to provide maintenance to destitute/helpless person to meet the basic necessities of his/her survival are studied, analyzed, and identified the loop-holes and provided the suitable suggestions to plug the loop - wholes.
